WELCOME TO OUR MANITOBA 150 VIRTUAL CELEBRATION!
VIRTUAL MUSEUM
The SCC Manitoba 150 virtual museum was created to celebrate the culture and traditions of Nordic Manitobans. We wish to thank the Province of Manitoba, Multiculturalism Secretariat, for their generous support in helping us create this space.
The museum has four virtual rooms, in the following categories:
· Folk Costumes: This room takes visitors on a tour through each of the five Nordic countries (Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Norway and Sweden), providing a history of the National costumes based on the region and time-period they were created in.
· Manitoba Stories: Visitors are provided with stories from Nordic Manitobans, including information about their settlements, and immigration stories.
· Nordic Handicrafts: This room features crafts from all five countries, with information on how the crafts are created and their history in Nordic culture.
· Scandinavian Pavilion: Visitors are taken through the last 50 years of Folklorama, with a history of the festival and information about the Scandinavian Pavilion over the years.
